Shinichi Konno, a second generation master bike builder hailing from the land of the rising sun. He creates bespoke bicycles out of steel for the discerning cyclist. Shinichi is the man behind Cherubim bicycles. He designs, cuts, welds, and gives birth to bikes sought after by many a connoisseur.
A visit to his Aoyama shop in Tokyo was all it took to be smitten by this brand. The experience of riding the actual bikes far exceeded their allure online. On hand were two of his famous models, the quintessential Cherubim bike, the Sticky; and the classic lugged R-2. We always say that a great bike is one that bares its soul to you immediately. Its short learning curve allows you to immediately maximise the bike. The two test bikes only needed a 1.5km loop each for us to feel the racing pedigree of the Sticky and the longhaul comfort of the R-2. A couple of test rides later and we were already discussing the finer details of becoming a dealer for the Philippines.
